The spokesperson for the Vox Parliamentary Group in the Cortes of Castilla y León, David Hierro, supported this Thursday the 33 percent reduction in the economic allocations directed to the unions and business organizations included in the draft of the regional budgets for 2027, an amount that the first vice president of the Junta, Carlos Pollán, also from Vox, placed around four million euros.

Hierro emphasized that this measure represents a step forward in the implementation of the government agreement signed in June between PP and Vox in Castilla y León, a pact that includes "in writing" the possibility of achieving a reduction of up to 50 percent of the subsidies intended for trade union organizations.

In this regard, he admitted that his parliamentary group would have liked those cuts "to be more," although he highlighted that the 33 percent has already been reached in the first budget project prepared jointly by PP and Vox.

"We understand that the correct and good thing would be for it to be progressive --the reduction-- throughout the legislature, but we are satisfied in principle that this part of the agreement has been fulfilled," he indicated, before insisting that the goal of Santiago Abascal's party is to reach one hundred percent in the elimination of subsidies to unions, employers, and political parties. "In fact --he claimed-- we have brought this to the Congress of Deputies several times and we are the only ones who have supported this measure."

On the other hand, Hierro argued that the ruling against the PP-Vox Government of the previous legislature for the cuts applied to the unions did not stem from illegal actions by the Junta, but from a "lack of justification for the reduction of the subsidies," and assured that his party asked the regional Executive to appeal that judicial ruling.

"What it said was that there had been no justification for reducing those subsidies, not that it was illegal to remove the subsidies, which is another thing. Nowhere is it written that unions must receive 12 million euros in subsidies in Castilla y León," he asserted.

"There is nothing written, it is not written that the unions have to receive 12 million in subsidies from the pockets of all citizens in Castilla y León. They have been reduced by four million, therefore we have a reduction of 33 percent and it is written that in the government agreement it is stated that this reduction has to be effective starting from the first budget," he concluded in his reflection.
