A fire declared this Thursday in the Devesa de El Saler, in Valencia, has forced the preventive evacuation of a residential tower and its parking lot and to cut the CV-500 road. The fire is located in the vicinity of the Gola de Pujol, within the natural park of Albufera, and has mobilized ground and aerial resources.
The firefighters received a notice due to a column of smoke visible from various points in the vicinity of El Saler.
Six units from the Valencia Firefighters and three aerial resources from the Generalitat have been dispatched to the area, working on extinguishing tasks while the Local Police control access.
The operation is concentrated in the Gola de Pujol, one of the enclaves of the Devesa integrated into the natural park of Albufera.
Preventively evacuated tower 1
The Local Police have ordered the preventive evacuation of the tower 1 of residences in the area and the adjacent parking lot.
The City Council has also cut the CV-500 road preventively, which connects Valencia with El Saler and crosses part of this natural space.
The mayor of Valencia, María José Catalá, has asked the population not to approach the area and to follow the instructions of the emergency services.
Sideinfo cannons activated
The device has also activated the Sideinfo cannons installed in the Devesa preventively.
This is a high-pressure hydraulic network designed to soak the vegetation and create a wet barrier that hinders the spread of flames.
The City Council has reinforced this infrastructure over the past few years. In March 2026, it announced the installation of three new cannons, between 12 and 16 meters high, capable of launching water up to about 42 meters and intended to enhance the fire defense of the Devesa.
Advanced Command Post in El Saler
The first deputy mayor and acting mayor, María José Ferrer San Segundo, and the Emergency Councilor, Juan Carlos Caballero, have moved to the Advanced Command Post, installed in the El Saler fire station.
The teams maintain vigilance over both the evolution of the fire and the possible advance of smoke towards residential areas.
So far, no officially affected area has been reported nor has it been confirmed that there are injured persons.
Heat and wind during the afternoon
The fire coincides with a day of high temperatures in Valencia.
The hourly forecast from AEMET placed this Thursday temperatures on the rise during the central hours of the day, with values around 36 degrees by mid-morning and wind from the west.
The weather conditions are one of the factors that the firefighting teams must monitor during the evolution of the fire, although there is currently no official cause of the fire.
The beach forecast from AEMET for the coast of València maintains clear skies this Thursday, with moderate wind during the afternoon.
