The magistrate Beatriz Biedma, head of the Court of Instruction number 3 of Badajoz, is the judge who instructed the case regarding the hiring of the brother of the president of the Government, David Sánchez, a procedure that ended with a sentence of nine years of disqualification for public employment.
Now his name reappears in a different investigation: the one led by the judge of the National Court Santiago Pedraz regarding the environment of Leire Díez, the former socialist militant known as the "plumber of the PSOE," for the contacts she would have maintained with different people to try to intervene in judicial proceedings affecting the party and the Government. Biedma claims that she herself was one of the targets of those actions and has requested to join the case as a harmed party.
The link with Badajoz is what brings the investigation to Los Rochos, a designation used to identify a family environment with a presence in the city and with judicial records affecting some of its members. The connection is not casual: Biedma has developed judicial actions in recent years related to people from that environment and, according to the document she presented before Pedraz, the investigation by the UCO has detected contacts between Leire Díez's circle and people linked to Badajoz.
Among those appearing in that chain is Luis José Sáenz de Tejada, a former magistrate expelled from the judicial career, who would have acted as an intermediary between Díez's environment and people related to Los Rochos.
The importance of Sáenz de Tejada lies precisely in that role as a link. The UCO places the former magistrate in a WhatsApp group along with Leire Díez, Javier Pérez Dolset, and Joaquín Parra, former president of the Badajoz Sports Club.
According to the police report cited by Biedma, Parra would have received from Díez the request to seek information or contacts that could affect the reputation of the magistrate and, in that context, the possibility arises that Sáenz de Tejada would take on the defense of David Sánchez to promote the challenge of Biedma and remove her from the case.
And it is from there that Los Rochos enter the scene. The information published in recent days places the environment of this family group as one of the destinations of those contacts. EL ESPAÑOL publishes this Monday that Sáenz de Tejada would have made an offer during the spring of 2025 to people linked to Los Rochos: if they managed to remove Biedma from the investigation into David Sánchez, the Prosecutor's Office would help close their pending judicial proceedings.
The publication attributes this version to a source that claims to have been present at the negotiations and indicates that the offer would have been rejected.
A family environment with judicial records in Badajoz
The designation of Los Rochos identifies in Badajoz a family environment known for years by the security forces and the courts of the province. Some of its members have appeared in investigations related to drug trafficking and violent episodes recorded in the city.
Their presence in the investigation of the National Court does not arise, therefore, from the information published this Monday, but from a prior relationship between that environment, Biedma's judicial activity in Badajoz, and the contacts that are now being investigated.
One of the judicial records related to people from this environment dates back to 2018, with the Granero operation, which resulted in 32 arrests and led to a procedure before the Provincial Court of Badajoz for crimes related to drug trafficking. The actions were directed against specific individuals and do not allow attributing the investigated behaviors to the entire family group identified as Los Rochos.
A subsequent judicial episode affected Jesús Rocho Sosa. In 2021, the Constitutional Court partially upheld the amparo appeal filed by Rocho Sosa and annulled the judicial resolutions that had agreed to and extended his provisional imprisonment, upon finding a violation of his rights to personal freedom and effective judicial protection.
The ruling was issued by the First Chamber of the Constitutional Court, which included at that time Cándido Conde-Pumpido, the current president of the court. The pronouncement referred to the procedural guarantees of provisional imprisonment.
The name of this environment reappeared in the judicial chronicle of Badajoz following several violent episodes recorded in 2024. On February 29, J.G.C., known as 'El Tutu', was shot dead in the city. On December 30 of that same year, Jesús Rocho was shot while driving his vehicle through Badajoz. The information published at that time placed both episodes in the context of confrontations between groups linked to drug trafficking in the capital of Badajoz.
From the proceedings in Badajoz to the investigation into Biedma
The relationship with Beatriz Biedma comes precisely from her judicial activity in Badajoz. The magistrate was on duty when Jesús Rocho was shot on December 30, 2024, and subsequently intervened in the proceedings related to the case. Thus, the judge's relationship with people from that environment derives from her judicial activity in Badajoz and predates the contacts that are now part of the investigation by the Audiencia Nacional into the environment of Leire Díez.
On September 16, Biedma appeared as a private prosecution before the Audiencia Nacional, in the case directed by Judge Santiago Pedraz, requesting that certain contacts between people from Leire Díez's environment and people related to Badajoz be investigated. The magistrate argues that these actions could be related to her role as the instructor of the proceedings against David Sánchez.
Among the documentation that Biedma has provided is a note attributed to Leire Díez's agenda, dated March 25, 2025, in which the reference appears: “Judge of Badajoz. La Celsa. Heroine or gypsy”. The magistrate demands that the meaning of this note be examined and that the agendas, devices, and other seized documentation be analyzed to determine what contacts occurred and what they could respond to.
Parra, the link between Badajoz and the environment of Leire Díez
In that chain, the name of Joaquín Parra, businessman and former president of the Badajoz Sports Club, also emerges as one of the points of connection with the city. Parra appears alongside Leire Díez, Javier Pérez Dolset, and Sáenz de Tejada in the WhatsApp group cited by the UCO. According to the police report, Díez would have asked Parra for information or contacts that could affect Biedma's reputation, and in that context, it was suggested that Sáenz de Tejada take on the defense of David Sánchez with the aim of promoting the recusal of the magistrate.
Our consulted legal sources maintain that the link between Parra and Sáenz de Tejada was prior to these conversations. According to Parra's statement before the UCO, when Leire Díez asked him for information or contacts that could affect Biedma's reputation, he specifically mentioned the former magistrate. Sáenz de Tejada, for his part, has explained that he met Leire Díez through Parra and that he had previously been introduced to Javier Pérez Dolset by him. This relationship thus positions Parra as one of the links between the Badajoz environment and the circle formed around Díez, Pérez Dolset, and Sáenz de Tejada.
The judicial situation of Joaquín Parra himself is also part of this sequence. The businessman was involved in proceedings related to a hydrocarbons plot when he came into contact with Leire Díez's environment.
According to the statement he made before the UCO and later before Judge Santiago Pedraz, Díez would have offered him help for his judicial problems in exchange for providing information or contacts that could harm Biedma. Parra would have recounted that Díez spoke to him about the possibility of resolving the accusations against him through actions in the Prosecutor's Office.
The jump from contacts to new revelations
EL ESPAÑOL reported this Monday, citing a person who claims to have been present in the conversations, that during the spring of 2025, Sáenz de Tejada would have conveyed to people linked to Los Rochos a proposal to remove Biedma from the investigation into David Sánchez in exchange for benefits in pending judicial proceedings. According to that source, the proposal would have been rejected.
The information from EL ESPAÑOL also places these contacts on the same dates when the UCO would have located two meetings of Leire Díez and lawyer Jacobo Teijelo with representatives of the Attorney General's Office, on March 6 and April 4, 2025.
According to the newspaper, investigators would have used geolocation data and WhatsApp messages to establish those meetings. There would also have been a third attempt at a meeting in May that could not have been confirmed.
For its part, El Debate also published this Monday the testimony of Cintia Rocho, whom it identifies as belonging to the family environment of Los Rochos.
According to her account, she received calls from two people who introduced themselves as a judge and a lawyer and who provided her with information about Biedma, including data related to his home, vehicle, gym, and routines. Cintia Rocho claims that she later understood that they intended to use her to act against the magistrate and asserts that her family did not collaborate with that initiative.
El Gitano
El Debate adds another element to this reconstruction. According to its sources, Sáenz de Tejada would have held a meeting at the end of 2024 with people from the environment of a drug trafficker known as 'El Gitano', during which he supposedly showed information related to Biedma's routines to send him an intimidating message. The newspaper notes that the former magistrate would have acknowledged the meeting, although he would have denied showing videos of the judge.
