The Government delegate in Madrid, Francisco Martín, pointed out this Tuesday that the decision of a court to open proceedings after receiving several complaints about the acquisition of the penthouse in Chamberí by the Community of Madrid could lead to "a surprise at any moment."
From Santos de la Humosa, in statements to the media, Martín described the purchase operation of the penthouse as "another attempt at a windfall" by the regional president, Isabel Díaz Ayuso, whom he also reproached for "making up excuses" and offering "disconnected" explanations.
"This has led us to the fact that the penthouse that was just purchased is already for sale. We could get a surprise at any moment," emphasized the Government delegate, who again censured the "total darkness" with which, in his opinion, the Community of Madrid has processed this entire procedure.
The Investigating Court number 8 of Madrid has an open investigation into the purchase of the penthouse in Chamberí by the Community of Madrid through the public company Planifica Madrid. Martín expressed his confidence that it will be Justice who "investigates with the rigor that the matter deserves" what happened.
After the controversy generated by the purchase of the penthouse, located on General Martínez Campos avenue, Ayuso's Executive confirmed shortly after that the property would be put up for sale with the aim of raising funds to finance the reconstruction of the Sierra Oeste, after the forest fire that devastated about 30,000 hectares and forced the declaration of national emergency.
Last Friday, the Community of Madrid, through Planifica Madrid, put the penthouse on the market with a starting price of 6.7 million euros, along with four other properties located on Gran Vía, valued together at 11.8 million euros, according to the documentation published on the Public Procurement Portal.
The purchase of this penthouse in Chamberí has received harsh criticism from left-wing parties, which have taken the case to the courts and have demanded the resignation of the president, whom they accuse of intending with this operation to have an "official residence." Ayuso has rejected these accusations and maintains that it would be "unwise" to look for a house that she could not "hide" and that with this penthouse there has been a will to "do harm."
