The councilor of León, José Antonio Diez (PSOE), has ratified that he will attend the concentration promoted by civil society this Wednesday in support of Ceuta, insisting on the need to "move away" from partisanship and demonstrate "state height".

"I believe that what is important here is that we must move away from partisanship, which some political parties endorse or practice, and what we must demonstrate is a state height," he emphasized, to then remark that political formations must position themselves "at the level" and reach state agreements in this area, instead of seeking political "advantage" in matters that concern the entire citizenry.

The mayor has detailed that two mobilizations have been called in León for the next September 2: one promoted by the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) and another organized by civil society. He specified that it will be in the latter where he will participate: "I believe that I am not doing anything strange by being present and supporting, evidently, the Ceuta people, who I believe is at a moment when they need the support of the people to be clearly shown."

Diez has insisted that his attendance at this event responds to the defense of national sovereignty and Spanish borders, and has also focused on the humanitarian dimension "so hard and so difficult" that Ceuta is currently going through. "It must be taken into account that the people who have now entered Ceuta are people, as I have said, they have rights that are endorsed by the United Nations themselves, but also by international law," he reiterated.

These statements were made at the San Marcelo City Hall, after the presentation of the XXII Course for pianists, conductors, and the Young Leonese Orchestra of the Eutherpe Foundation.

All this occurs after the PSOE has sent a circular to its public officials urging them not to participate in the demonstrations on Wednesday, September 2, in support of Ceuta, considering that the PP seeks to gain political profit and instrumentalize them.
