This Tuesday afternoon, the National Police had to act on the Trampolín beach, in Ceuta, due to the disturbances that arose during the daily distribution of food that the Red Cross carries out among the migrants settled at this point on the coast.
The disturbances began around 7:00 PM, when thousands of people were gathered waiting to receive food. According to police sources, several clashes between groups of migrants increased the tension to the point of forcing the deployment of a specific operation to stop the incidents and prevent them from spreading throughout the settlement.
As part of this intervention, the agents carried out several charges and resorted to riot control material, including tear gas, with the aim of dispersing those gathered and restoring control of the area.
MOMENTS OF CONFUSION AND NERVOUSNESS
The police action triggered hundreds of migrants to flee the beach, heading hastily towards the access road and the pier, amid scenes of confusion and nervousness.
In parallel, the Local Police has limited traffic at the accesses to Trampolín to facilitate the work of the deployed agents and reinforce security in the surroundings.
In recent weeks, Trampolín beach has consolidated as one of the main settlement points for migrants in Ceuta after the massive entry recorded at the end of July. Thousands of people remain in this enclave, where makeshift structures have been erected and a large part of the needs for food, hygiene, and accommodation of those who remain in the city are concentrated.
