Avatel has launched an exceptional measure to help its customers communicate with Colombia after the recent earthquakes recorded in the country.
Starting this Wednesday, all international calls and SMS sent from Spain to Colombia will be free for the operator's users, and will remain at no cost for as long as necessary.
The earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.4 on the Richter scale and with its epicenter in the municipality of San José del Palmar, in the northwest of Colombia, has so far caused 181 fatalities and 2,595 injured people, according to the latest balance released by the country's president, Abelardo De La Espriella.
With this measure, Avatel aims to facilitate its customers' contact with family, friends, and loved ones in an especially critical context, making communications with those in the affected areas easier.
The company has emphasized that, in emergency scenarios, being able to make a call or send a message is key to knowing the situation of family and loved ones and maintaining contact when it is most necessary.
In addition, Avatel has expressed its solidarity and support to all those affected by the earthquakes, with special attention to the family and loved ones of those in the hardest-hit areas by the earthquake.
