The first vice president and minister of Economy, Trade and Business, Carlos Cuerpo, has announced that the Executive will work "towards a new social contract in the field of artificial intelligence (AI)," articulated through a "great national pact" in which both social agents and political forces participate.
"We are going to work from the Government towards a new social contract in the field of artificial intelligence. A great national pact that includes social and political agents to collectively shape this new future," Cuerpo pointed out during the institutional closing of the 40th edition of the 'Meeting of Digital Economy and Telecommunications' of Ametic, which takes place this week in Santander as part of the summer courses of the International University Menéndez Pelayo (UIMP).
The head of Economy explained that, in the coming weeks, the president of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will promote the signing of a tripartite agreement with social agents, with the idea of reinforcing social dialogue as "a central pillar" in the technological deployment and in the distribution of the benefits it generates.
Trust, security, and the role of social dialogue
Cuerpo emphasized that this future agreement must preserve the trust and security of citizens "at the center of the process."
"Social dialogue [must be] a central pillar, key in this technological development and in the distribution of the benefits of technological development in our country," affirmed the first vice president.
Similarly, he highlighted that this commitment will be the "starting point" to address the transformation associated with artificial intelligence and guaranteed that the process will be supported by the participation of experts, civil society, and representatives from the business, scientific, health, educational, and industrial sectors. "We will do it together," Cuerpo concluded.
