The board of directors of the Engineering Systems for the Defense of Spain (Isdefe) has chosen Daniel Acuña as the new CEO in place of Manuel Cutrín, who has submitted his resignation. The public consulting and engineering company has stated that both are carrying out an "orderly and responsible" transition.
In a note sent this Friday, Isdefe detailed that Cutrín "has requested his departure at his own request to face new professional challenges."
The public company dependent on the Ministry of Defense and Acuña himself have expressed their gratitude to Cutrín for his "commitment and dedication" during a stage in which he "expressed as priorities the objectives of strengthening the organization, preparing it for the future, and working for excellence" alongside a team he defined as "extraordinary" both professionally and personally.
Until now, Daniel Acuña served as the operations director of Isdefe, a position he has held since 2021. He joined the organization in 1988 and, since then, has held various management positions, including that of head of Defense and Security systems.
Acuña is a Senior Telecommunications Engineer from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and holds a master's degree in Contract and Program Management in the Public Sector, in addition to training in management and development programs at IESE and Esade. Throughout his career, he has also been an associate university professor and has worked as an engineer in companies such as Page Ibérica.
As Isdefe emphasizes, Acuña's extensive experience "allows him to face the challenges that currently involve leading a fundamental and necessary player in the sector," in his capacity as a means of the Ministry of Defense. The entity stresses that it will continue to collaborate in an "effective and calm" manner with the staff on "issues that affect the most immediate future," such as the implementation of the Strategic Plan or the dialogue with the representation of workers in the labor field.
In his first statements as the highest executive responsible, Acuña has emphasized that "the future is full of challenges and some uncertainties, but it is very promising."
Likewise, he has recalled that "we have been positioning ourselves in the defense and security sector and I believe we must continue doing so, with the necessary prudence. We must strive to be technologically relevant and adapt our services to the needs of our clients. We have the resources to do so."
