Latam Airlines Group, based in Chile, has secured a loan of nearly 505 million dollars (433 million euros) intended to finance the entry into service of 11 new aircraft, whose delivery is scheduled for the second half of 2026.
In the statement released by the company, it is detailed that the order includes one Airbus A320neo, four Airbus A321neo, and six Embraer E195-E2. Of that total amount, 400 million dollars (343 million euros) are structured as financing linked to sustainability criteria (sustainability-linked loan).
This is the first financing of this type associated with Latam's Embraer fleet, which allows the group to access resources under competitive conditions in a scenario marked by financial volatility and rising fuel costs. The operation, conceived as long-term financing, is led by BNP Paribas.
"This transaction combines three relevant elements for Latam's financial strategy: it diversifies our sources of financing, supports the renewal and growth of our fleet, and links part of its conditions to our performance in sustainability," said Latam's corporate finance director, Andrés del Valle.
"Additionally, it allows us to finance for the first time the incorporation of Embraer aircraft through this structure, while maintaining access to competitive long-term conditions in international markets," he added.
The credit contract incorporates adjustments in the interest rate based on Latam's progress in reducing emissions. Thus, as the group advances in the reduction of CO2 per unit transported, it will be able to benefit from a more favorable financial cost.
These incentives are framed within Latam's climate roadmap, which aims to cut its emissions intensity by 6% by 2030 compared to 2019 levels and move towards the goal of "achieving net zero emissions by 2050."
This financing represents the second operation of this type for the airline. Previously, in December 2024, Latam formalized its first sustainability-linked loan through a revolving credit line of 300 million dollars (257.3 million euros) secured with engines.
