The Ibex 35 of the Madrid Stock Exchange started this Thursday's session practically unchanged, with a slight advance of 0.03% that placed the index at 20,073 points, after having closed on Wednesday practically flat, with a minimal rise of 0.05% to 20,067 units.

On today's trading day, investors will try to digest the accounts of the advanced microprocessor manufacturer Nvidia, published yesterday at the end of trading on European stock exchanges.

The American multinational, which is currently the company with the highest market capitalization on the planet, recorded a net profit of 59.688 billion dollars (51.156 billion euros) in its second fiscal quarter (May-July), which represents an increase of 126% compared to the same period of the previous year. Revenue also skyrocketed more than double year-on-year, reaching 96.221 billion dollars (82.467 billion euros), and advanced 18% compared to the immediately preceding quarter.

At the same time, market attention will focus on the annual meeting of central bankers in Jackson Hole, which begins this Thursday and will feature an intervention by the chairman of the Federal Reserve (Fed), Kevin Warsh, tomorrow Friday.

Warsh is making his debut as host of this meeting, which has been held since 1982 on the last weekend of August in this mountain resort and which, on this occasion, will be conditioned by the tensions surrounding the debt of the United States (US) and by the new communication strategy of the Fed's top official.

The American central banker is expected to provide some guidance in his speech tomorrow regarding the direction of interest rates in the US, as well as his reading of the recent turmoil surrounding the US bond, following the sharp rise in required yields, once the country's debt has surpassed the historic threshold of 40 trillion dollars (34.3 trillion euros).

In addition, markets will remain very attentive this Thursday to the evolution of the situation in the Middle East, after the economic offensive against Iran driven by the United States and the agreement reached between the Islamic Republic and Oman for the safe reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.

The proposed negotiation scheme contemplates the creation of a joint and temporary maritime corridor through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as a pact to launch a joint demining project in this strategic route.

Nevertheless, Iranian authorities have emphasized that this "phased plan" they have agreed to establish with Oman for the management of transit through the Strait of Hormuz does not imply the "immediate opening" of this key passage, as its reopening is conditioned on the fulfillment of the requirements set by Tehran.

In this geopolitical context, the price of Brent crude oil, a reference in Europe, fell by 1.6% at the opening of the markets in the Old Continent, to 86.4 dollars, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI), a reference in the US, dropped by 1.7%, to 80.7 dollars per barrel.

In the macroeconomic section, this Thursday's session arrives with few relevant references in Europe. In the United States, weekly unemployment claims figures will be published.

In the corporate sphere, Logista will pay a dividend this Thursday on account of the 2026 fiscal year for a total amount of 77 million euros (0.58 euros per share), which represents a 3.6% increase over the dividend distributed the previous year. The company thus reaffirms its commitment to pay a total dividend per share in the 2026 fiscal year of at least the same amount paid in the 2024 and 2025 fiscal years (2.09 euros gross per share).
