The Consumer Price Index (CPI) of Argentina stood in August at 33.5% year-on-year, which implies a decrease of three tenths compared to the 33.8% recorded in July, according to the figures released by the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses (Indec).
Regarding the monthly evolution, inflation decreased by four tenths, to 1.7%, while the accumulated from January to the eighth month of the year reached 21.3%, that is, two points more than the figure observed in July. For its part, core inflation advanced by 1.8% in the month and 31.9% compared to the same period of the previous year.
The categories of housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (31.5%), education (30.1%), and telecommunications (23.5%) led the largest price increases in the year-on-year analysis.
Conversely, the categories of clothing and footwear (4.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (13.4%), as well as household equipment and maintenance products (16.1%), recorded more moderate increases during August.
