The Extremadura Health Service (SES) is preparing a new contract for the surveillance and security of its hospitals and health centers that includes a salary increase of 18% for the workers. The current contract ends on October 15, as confirmed by the Health Department of the Junta de Extremadura.
The Extremadura government assures that the new file seeks to adapt the service to the current conditions of the sector and correct the limitations of the current contract, awarded in 2021.
The new contract will update salaries
The SES explains that the current contract contemplated for the period 2022-2026 an accumulated update of costs of 2%, while the salary costs of the private security sector have increased by 18% due to the updates established in the collective agreement.
For this reason, the new contract will incorporate the update of salary costs and an economic structure adjusted to the real costs of the service.
More personnel and technological improvements
In addition to the salary increase, the SES plans to reinforce the number of guards in the centers that need it and introduce technological, training, and quality control improvements.
The new contract will also expressly define the benefits linked to the Management and the Security Department, as detailed by the Department.
The current contract expires on October 15
The renewal of the service occurs after the Extremadura PSOE questioned why the new contract has not yet been tendered and alerted to the uncertainty of the workers regarding the expiration of the current one.
The Junta, for its part, maintains that the continuity of the service is guaranteed and that it is working on a "more modern, solid, and adapted" contract to the needs of public health in Extremadura.
