The PP has demanded explanations from the Basque Government for the granting of a new prison permit to the former member of ETA Soledad Iparragirre, known as 'Amboto', after the National Court annulled the previous permit.

In the statement of reasons accompanying his request for information registered in the Basque Parliament, the parliamentarian Santiago López emphasizes that the Department of Justice and Human Rights of the regional government "has again applied article 100.2 of the Penitentiary Regulations to Soledad Iparragirre".

In his initiative, disseminated by Europa Press, he recalls that the previous permit, authorized last March, was annulled in April by the Central Court of Penitentiary Supervision, considering that it represented an "early release" and generated "false expectations" for the inmate.

López also points out that the Basque Government now claims that the new proposal "is different and limits the outings to volunteer work with a set schedule".

In light of this second authorization for outings for the inmate, the representative of the PP understands that "the changes made, their specific motivation, and the response to the judicial objections must be known".

"MAXIMUM TRANSPARENCY"

In the text registered in the Chamber, he emphasizes that "the seriousness of the sentences and the effective scope of the outings require maximum transparency regarding the file, the individualized evaluation, and the established controls".

Furthermore, through a message published on his account on a social network, López states that this is "the most immoral Basque Government in history", and describes the decision to grant the new permit as "intolerable".
