The Spanish Agency for Food Safety and Nutrition (AESAN) has communicated a new food alert after detecting the presence of undeclared gluten in the labeling of various barbecue and chimichurri sauces.
First of all, the warning refers to the "Barbecue Sauce (BBQ)" from the brand Vulpi, in the batches L2510221028, L2510221029, L2510221030, L2510221031, and L2510221032, all with a preferred consumption date of January 2027.
The notification also includes the "Chimichurri Sauce" from the same brand Vulpi, in the batches L2509160918, L2509160919, L2509160920, L2509160921, L2509160922, L2509160923, L2509160924, and L2512111217, whose preferred consumption date is set for September 2026.
In addition, the alert includes the "Barbecue Sauce (BBQ)" marketed under the brand Dumt's, corresponding to the batches L251203B1223 and L251203B1209, with a preferred consumption date set for March 2027.
According to the data provided by AESAN, the initial distribution of these products has taken place in the autonomous communities of Andalusia and Madrid, although it is not ruled out that redistributions to other territories may have occurred.
The information has been disseminated through the Coordinated Rapid Information Exchange System (SCIRI), in order for the competent authorities to verify the withdrawal of the affected batches from points of sale.
As a preventive recommendation, AESAN urges people with conditions related to gluten intake who have any of the mentioned products at home to refrain from consuming them. The agency emphasizes, finally, that the consumption of these sauces poses no danger to those who do not have gluten-related issues.
