The Vox spokesperson in the Parlament, Manuela Cañadas, has reiterated her support for the presumption of innocence of her party colleague and second vice president of the Consell de Mallorca, Pedro Bestard, following the complaint filed by the Prosecutor's Office over an alleged irregular use of official cars. Meanwhile, the PP has emphasized the need to wait for the judicial procedure to conclude before taking any decision.

"We are going to wait for there to be a trial, if there is one, and for everything to be settled in the courts," Cañadas said this Monday at a press conference in the Parlament after being asked about the case.

The Vox leader also lashed out at the left-wing parties for their criticism of Bestard, understanding that "they only ask for resignations when something happens in the PP or in Vox". "We already know who the Prosecutor's Office depends on," she said, thus questioning its conduct.

Cañadas has assured that the second vice president of the Consell has been suffering "continuous harassment and undermining during these months". "I am going to keep defending him," she insisted, making clear that she will maintain her political support.

For her part, the PP deputy spokesperson, Marga Durán, stressed that her group "respects judicial timings" and defended waiting for the procedure to end and for the courts to issue the resolution they deem appropriate.

"As the president of the Consell de Mallorca, Llorenç Galmés, has said, once the sentence is available, the island government will act accordingly and firmly," she stated, adding that "we have to wait".

Regarding the criticisms from the PSIB both over Bestard's case and over the trial against the president of the Parlament, Gabriel Le Senne, for an alleged hate crime, the 'popular' leader reiterated her "utmost respect for justice".
