The Justice of Bangladesh has sentenced this Monday the death penalty against three men found guilty of a gang rape committed against a woman in Jamalpur, in the district of Mimensingh, in the north of the country, in October 2024. In addition, the court has set a compensation of 100,000 Bangladeshi takas (about 700 euros) as indemnification for the victim.
The sentenced have been identified as Sattar Alí, Abdul Maleque, and Anu, who must pay this amount to the Justice so that it can later be delivered to the assaulted woman, according to information published by the newspaper "The Daily Star."
According to the accusation, the victim was sleeping in her home when the accused forced her to leave the house around 11:00 a.m. (local time). They then held her by force and took her to a wooded area, where they perpetrated the gang rape. Shortly after, the woman went to a nearby police station and filed a complaint against the three men.
The court has now made its ruling public after carefully examining the case and hearing the testimony of about a dozen people. The three convicted were present at the place when the sentence was read.
