An alert generated by the presence of a suspicious object forced the temporary evacuation of the Embassy of Ukraine in Washington this Tuesday, until the United States Police determined that there was no real danger.
The spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Heorhi Tiji, confirmed that an initial evacuation was ordered "for the safety of the employees and visitors of the Embassy," while agents proceeded to cordon off the perimeter, according to information released by the Ukrinform agency.
After carrying out the inspection of the package located in the vicinity of the diplomatic mission, U.S. authorities concluded that the object posed no threat.
"The area surrounding the diplomatic mission has been cleared. The reception of visitors will resume soon," Tiji indicated when announcing the imminent reopening of the Embassy.
