The Palestinian authorities reported this Wednesday the death of a 19-year-old young man and a 16-year-old minor due to gunfire from the Israeli Army during a raid by settlers against the Palestinian village of Al Mughayir, in central West Bank, north of Ramallah.

The head of the local council of the town, Amin Abu Aliya, pointed out that the two deceased --the 19-year-old young man identified as Omar Muhamad Nasar and the 16-year-old minor as Jalil abu Aliya-- lost their lives after an incursion by settlers who attacked two houses in the area and stole the livestock from their owners.

According to Abu Aliya's account, collected by the news agency WAFA, snipers from the Army positioned themselves on top of several buildings while the settlers' attacks were taking place and opened fire on the gathered people, injuring both young men. After being evacuated to the hospital, medical teams confirmed shortly after their deaths.

For its part, the Palestinian Red Crescent indicated that its medical personnel treated one person with a bullet wound to the neck and another with gunshot wounds to the back before they were declared dead at the hospital.

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) places the number of Palestinians killed at 79 and the injured at nearly 1,850 at the hands of Israeli forces and settlers so far this year in the West Bank, a figure that has shown an upward trend since the attacks on October 7, 2023, led by the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas).
