The president of Colombia, Abelardo de la Espriella, accompanied a large police operation in the Bogotá locality of Usme in the early hours of this Wednesday, which ended with numerous seizures and a total of 172 arrests. Faced with one of the suspects, the president did not hesitate to confront him and say: "Are you going to throw lines here, clown?", as can be seen in the images from the operation.
The intervention is part of the "Kratos" operation against organized crime in the Colombian capital, during which the security forces carried out 114 nighttime searches. As a result, around a dozen firearms, three grenades, and more than four kilos of narcotics were confiscated, in addition to carrying out 172 arrests.
Among those captured is a man known by the alias of "Mailo", whom the authorities link to an attack carried out last January 22 in the Santa Fe neighborhood, in which one person died. Addressing him directly, De la Espriella warned him: "You know what’s coming for you, right? You’re going to know how hard justice is going to hit you?".
The president further toughened his tone toward "Mailo": "Are you going to throw lines here, clown? What you are is a miserable murderer. You’re going to see how hard the tiger bites. Welcome to the miracle homeland", he insisted, demanding that, once the judicial process advances, he be sent to a maximum-security prison. "The toughest there is", he added.
De la Espriella also issued more warnings to the detainee, referring to the appearance he will have when he enters prison: "We’ll see if you are just as handsome (...) This little laugh of yours is going to turn into tears. And nicely cropped we’re going to leave you, you hear? We’re going to take that little haircut off you, so you know how hard the tiger bites".
Another of the arrested men whom the head of state addressed is a man nicknamed "Piccolino", identified by the authorities as the ringleader of a criminal organization accused of amputating a woman’s hand and dissolving several kidnapped people in acid.
Before him, the Colombian president lashed out harshly: "Tough guy for cutting off a poor woman’s hand, for committing misdeeds, killing defenseless people, and you don’t even have the courage to lift your face, coward. The full weight of the law is going to fall on you", he reproached a downcast "Piccolino", surrounded by a heavy police presence.
