Leaders of various far-right parties in Europe have celebrated the triumph of Alternative for Germany (AfD) in the federal state of Saxony-Anhalt. In Portugal, the leader of Chega, André Ventura, has joined in the congratulations to AfD for its "historic" victory in Saxony-Anhalt. The leader of the Dutch Freedom Party (PVV), Geert Wilders, has also shown his support for AfD with a message in capital letters of "congratulations" spread on social media, accompanied by a screenshot of a news article reporting electoral support for AfD exceeding 44%.
For her part, the French Reconquista party MEP, Sarah Knafo, has defined the result as "a historic victory for AfD."
