Leaders and Governments from all over Latin America have shown their support this Monday for the Executive and the people of Colombia after the earthquake of 7.4 degrees on the Richter scale that shook the northwest of the country, with an epicenter near the town of San José del Palmar, in the department of Chocó.
The president of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, has expressed his backing to Colombia and to the families affected by the tremor. "We put our USAR team at your disposal: 47 rescuers, specialized dogs, and equipment with autonomy to operate for seven days. We are ready to mobilize when you require," he has pointed out.
From Chile, the leader José Antonio Kast has recalled the seismic experience of his country and has emphasized that Chile "knows the pain and the challenge that earthquakes leave behind." "We are available to support in whatever Colombia needs," he has stated in a message disseminated on his social networks.
The Government of Venezuela —which recently faced a double earthquake of magnitude greater than 7 on the Richter scale with a toll of more than 6,100 dead— has also expressed its support "with the families of the victims and with all those who have suffered damages and material losses."
Likewise, the Venezuelan Ministry of Foreign Affairs has emphasized in a statement that "The Venezuelan government, through bilateral cooperation mechanisms and civil protection agencies, makes available to the Colombian government the sending of a group of rescuers and the necessary humanitarian aid within the framework of full respect for its sovereignty and self-determination."
In the same vein, the president of Panama, José Raúl Mulino, has offered his "collaboration" based on the country's capabilities, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Costa Rica has sent its condolences to the relatives of the deceased victims.
From Honduras, President Nasry Asfura has expressed his "solidarity" and "fraternity" with Colombia in the face of the "difficult situation." "We raise our prayers for the affected families and for those who today face moments of anguish and pain," he has published on his official accounts.
In Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum has guaranteed at a press conference "all the support that the people of Colombia need, we will be there," while the President of Peru, Keiko Fujimori, has conveyed her "condolences" to the families of the victims and the "willingness" of her Executive to help in "this difficult moment." "Peru is with you," she emphasized on social media.
