At least one person has lost their life and six others have been injured in the vicinity of Moscow as a result of a series of drone attacks attributed to Ukraine, after Russian authorities reported the detection of nearly 650 unmanned aircraft over the region, according to sources from the regional and municipal government.

"Unfortunately, one person has died," declared the governor of the Moscow region, Andréi Vorobiov, who specified that it is "a 20-year-old young man," a victim of an attack in the locality of Radúmlia, in the Solnechnogorsk district.

Furthermore, Vorobiov detailed that "six people have been injured." Three of them --in Yadrómino, Gorki, and Pokróvskoye-- have required hospitalization, while the other three, in Liájovo, Domodédovo district, have refused medical admission.

The governor also explained that a fire has been declared in Lobánovo, within the same district, and noted damage to around a dozen single-family homes, as well as additional damage to other buildings and vehicles in several population centers in the area.

Shortly before, the mayor of Moscow, Serguéi Sobianin, reported that a total of 650 drones headed towards the Moscow region between the night of October 5 and the morning of October 6.

"Between 8:30 PM (local time) on October 5 and 5:00 AM on October 6, 650 unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) flew over the Moscow region," the mayor declared on his social media.

Sobianin assured that most of those drones were shot down by Russian air defenses far from the capital, while 105 devices would have been neutralized as they approached Moscow.
