The Russian president, Vladimir Putin, has decided this Saturday to interrupt the attacks against Kiev for three days, coinciding with the preparations and meetings with the emissaries of the American president, Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner, who intend to reactivate the negotiation process with a trip first to Moscow and then to the Ukrainian capital.
"Indeed, this information was received. The Supreme Commander-in-Chief, President Vladimir Putin, ordered not to attack Kiev for three days, starting at midnight today," said the Kremlin spokesman, Dimitri Peskov, in statements to the Russian agency Interfax, presenting this decision as a response to the Ukrainian initiative not to attack Moscow while the visit lasts.
Peskov explained that this gesture is part of "the preparation and development of American contacts in Kiev" and confirmed that Kushner and Witkoff will meet this Saturday with Putin. "Yes. That meeting is scheduled for today," the presidential spokesman pointed out.
Subsequently, Putin received Witkoff and Kushner in the Kremlin. At the beginning of the meeting, the Russian leader expressed his gratitude and best wishes to President Donald Trump. "Clearly the situation is difficult and we must get to work today," the Russian leader stated during the meeting.
The Russian Presidency has released a video in which presidential advisor Yuri Ushakov and the presidential representative for Investments and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries and director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, Kiril Dimitriev, also appear accompanying the delegation.
Putin's spokesman has also hinted that the next destination for Witkoff and Kushner will be Kiev, as when asked why the initial stop is Moscow and then the Ukrainian capital, he limited himself to responding that "it is a matter for the negotiators in Washington."
Meanwhile, the president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, denounced this Saturday several Russian attacks against the airport of Kiev and Borispol, which he described as attempts by Russia to sabotage diplomatic efforts just as the arrival of representatives from the United States is awaited to try to relaunch the dialogue.
This Saturday, Witkoff and Kushner have landed in Moscow, where they are scheduled to meet with Putin.
