The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disseminated an official note this Monday in which it flatly rejects the "unfounded accusations" of the British government regarding the alleged Iranian involvement in the supposed "terrorist" attack against the Fairford airbase, which Tehran qualifies as a "false flag" operation.

In the text, Iran "holds the British government, as well as the planners and executors of this clumsy false flag operation, responsible for all the consequences arising from this invention," according to the statement from the Ministry.

The diplomatic department also emphasizes that "the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran strongly condemns the claims of British officials attributing to Iran an alleged security incident at Fairford Air Base."

Tehran denounces the "despicable plot" that, in its view, seeks to "promote an anti-Iranian campaign and to evade responsibility for the United Kingdom's participation in the U.S.-Zionist military aggression against the Iranian nation."

The statement also criticizes the "vague language" used by London and the absence of "concrete evidence or proof." "Resorting to terms like 'highly likely' and 'almost certainly' to lend credibility to the attribution of the alleged incident to Iran constitutes a flagrant attempt to evade responsibility for making unfounded accusations," the note states.

The Iranian government also recalls the British "track record" in "fabricating security-related accusations against other nations," something that, according to Tehran, "is no secret."

In parallel, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham has assured this Monday before Parliament that Tehran is behind the "terrorist plot" against the British Royal Air Force (RAF) base recorded on September 27.

"I can confirm our assessment that it is very likely that it was coordinated in Iran, and that it was almost certainly directed by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran," Burnham declared in the House of Commons.
