The Israeli Army reported this Sunday the death of a presumed prominent leader of the Shiite militia party Hezbollah in a bombing carried out the day before over the town of Deir ez Zaharani, in southern Lebanon.
The deceased has been identified as Abu Hasan Alaa, defined as "senior commander of the 'Badir' unit of the terrorist organization Hezbollah," according to a statement from a spokesperson for the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
The offensive by Israeli forces against this municipality in the Lebanese governorate of Nabatiyé took place on Saturday, despite the framework agreement sealed between the parties, with the mediation of the United States, last June, which provides for a ceasefire.
The Israeli Army has defended the attack arguing that Alaa "participated in promoting numerous terrorist plans (...) including the launching of explosive drones" against its troops deployed within Lebanese territory.
The authorities of Lebanon and Israel agreed to a truce last April, after Hezbollah and the IDF resumed their clashes on March 2, just days after the offensive launched by Israel and the United States against Iran.
Since then, more than 4,300 people have lost their lives in Lebanon as a result of the operations of the Israeli Army.
