The Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, assured this Saturday that Israel has managed to halt the imposition of international sanctions through "countermeasures" and, among them, mentioned the recent changes of government in countries like Colombia and Slovenia.

"They have been trying to impose sanctions on us for three years and we have blocked each and every one of these attempts. We have achieved this with countermeasures," Netanyahu declared in an interview granted to Channel 14 of Israeli television.

As an example, the leader referred to the "example" of the United Kingdom: "we closed their Consulate in Jerusalem"; or "bringing back countries that had distanced themselves, like Colombia or Slovenia."

In the Colombian case, President Gustavo Petro's Historical Pact lost the elections held between May and June to the far-right candidate Abelardo de la Espriella, while in Slovenia the liberal coalition Freedom Movement decided not to attempt to revalidate the government after the March elections, which opened the door to a right-wing coalition led by the Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS) of Janez Jansa.

"We have other means. Cryptocurrencies are one of those means. It is not the only one and it is not certain that we will use it," Netanyahu also pointed out, referring to other possible tools to evade sanctions.
