The Palestinian authorities have denounced this Wednesday the "relentless increase of violence" exercised by settlers and Israeli military forces in the West Bank, where at least 457 assaults against the Palestinian population have been recorded in the span of a week.
According to a statement released by the office of the Prime Minister, Mohamad Mustafá, around 75 attacks directed against homes and various structures belonging to Palestinians in the region have been registered during the same period.
"This is part of an escalation of violence, destruction, and dispossession" against the Palestinian population, emphasizes the official note, published a few hours before Israeli forces carried out new raids in the West Bank during the morning, in which several Palestinians have been attacked and detained.
The operations have resulted in more than a dozen arrests and have had a special impact on the Qalandia refugee camp, located between Jerusalem and Ramallah, where an unidentified man has been detained, according to the news agency WAFA.
Additionally, the Israeli Army has detained two other Palestinians in the city of Bethlehem, including a journalist. Meanwhile, a 28-year-old man has had to be hospitalized in Nablus after being injured by gunfire from Israeli forces.
In southern Hebron, Israeli forces have arrested another eight Palestinians, conducted searches in several homes, and set up military checkpoints throughout the governorate. In the Tulkarem area, the detention of two other individuals has also been reported.
Meanwhile, groups of Israeli settlers continue the siege of the town of Qusra, north of Nablus, for the eleventh consecutive day. The population remains completely surrounded after Israeli forces took control of the city.
