The Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom has communicated a reinforcement of its team at the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, where up to 135 employees of the company are already working. The company places this increase in personnel within its "contractual obligations."
The director of the corporation, Alexei Lijachev, explained to the Russian agency Tass: "We continue to expand our team at the facilities of the Bushehr nuclear power plant in Iran, as part of our contractual obligations. Yesterday, nine more employees arrived to carry out the scheduled preventive maintenance of unit 1, which is operational."
In his statements, Lijachev added that "the total number of technical and engineering personnel of Rosatom at the facilities amounts to 135" after the latest staff expansion and emphasized that "all of them are involved in the work being carried out at the three facilities" of the plant, namely, "two units under construction and one unit in operation."
Rosatom, responsible for the operation of the Bushehr plant, has thus increased its presence on the ground after a year initially marked by forced evacuations, in which it withdrew 200 specialists in its most recent evacuation operation, motivated by the attacks launched by the United States and Israel against Iran.
