The Russian authorities announced this Monday that their armed forces have carried out an attack against a cargo ship that was transporting military material while sailing through the Black Sea towards the Ukrainian port of Odesa, in the south of the country.

In an official note, the Ministry of Defense of Russia explained that, in addition to the impact on this vessel, new drone attacks have been carried out against facilities of the Ukrainian port infrastructure, as well as against vessels used to "fulfill the interests of the Army" of Ukraine.

"As a result of the attack, a bulk carrier ship was hit, in transit to the port of Odesa and with military-use cargo," the statement released by the Ministry notes.

Since mid-July, the attacks launched by Russian forces against ports in southern Ukraine and against ships related to the transport of military material for the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Black Sea have notably intensified, in the context of the Russian invasion, which began more than four years ago.

The Russian Ministry of Defense added that, during the night, 151 Ukrainian drones have been intercepted over Russian territory in the regions of Belgorod, Bryansk, Kaluga, Kursk, Moscow, Rostov, Smolensk, Tula, and Yaroslavl, as well as in Crimea and over the Black Sea.

For its part, the Ukrainian authorities reported that they have "neutralized" 89 Russian drones in the last 24 hours in different directions, according to the balance provided by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
