The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) has expressed this Wednesday its firm rejection of the latest attacks launched by Iran against Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, in response to the recent series of bombings by the United States on the Asian country, which have left 18 dead, including four attendees at a wedding ceremony in the city of Kohstak, in the south of the country.
In an official statement, the Secretary General of the GCC, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, has expressed his condemnation "in the strongest terms" of the "atrocious attacks" carried out with missiles and drones by Iran against neighboring states. "These Iranian attacks constitute a flagrant violation of the sovereignty of the states and a direct threat to their security and stability," he emphasized.
The regional body has thus reiterated its support for Bahrain, Kuwait, and Jordan, highlighting that it supports "all measures and actions they take to preserve their sovereignty, protect their security and stability, and ensure the safety of their peoples and residents."
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks against U.S. positions in the area, specifically in Jordan and in Iraq --in the semi-autonomous region of Iraqi Kurdistan--. Subsequently, the authorities of Bahrain and Kuwait reported that their defense systems were also responding to offensives coming from Iranian forces.
This new episode of exchange of fire occurs after Washington has intensified its campaign against targets linked to Iran in several points of the territory, following the latest round of bombings carried out on Monday by its forces on the Iranian island of Larak.
