The Houthi rebels of Yemen announced this Thursday that they have carried out several attacks in recent hours against key targets in Saudi Arabia, including the Ministry of Defense, the Yanbu refinery, and various airports in the kingdom, in a context of intensification of the war in Yemen.

According to the military spokesman for the Houthi forces, Yahya Sari, four "high-level military operations" have been carried out in the last 48 hours in which "ballistic missiles and drones" were used.

The first of these actions reportedly targeted the headquarters of the Saudi Ministry of Defense in Riyadh, the capital, followed by an attack on the international airport of Dammam, "which caused the interruption of air traffic," as well as another against the international airport of Abha.

In another of the operations, the Houthis targeted a refinery in Yanbu, one of the main oil facilities in Saudi Arabia located on the shores of the Red Sea. "The impact was direct, causing a fire at the target site," the military spokesman detailed.

In his message, Sari warned that "The Yemeni Armed Forces assert that the threat from the Saudi enemy to attack Yemeni tribes will not go unnoticed and that, should it engage in carrying out this threat, the consequences will be catastrophic and unpredictable for it, we will resort to greater options that we did not wish to take and hold it responsible for the repercussions of this."

The military representative also emphasized that the Yemeni insurgents "will continue their operations" within Saudi territory. "They are committed to imposing the equation of countering the blockade with a blockade, escalation with escalation, and attacking concentrations belonging to the Saudi enemy until the aggression ceases and the blockade on our country ends," he stressed.

In recent weeks, the Houthis have notably increased the launch of missiles and drones against strategic Saudi infrastructures, in response to the support of the international coalition to the Yemeni government forces recognized by the international community, which at the beginning of October launched a large-scale offensive to recover areas controlled by the rebels.
