The Prime Minister of Hungary, Peter Magyar, has gone this evening to the headquarters of the Prosecutor's Office of the country to testify about an incident that occurred in 2024, when he threw a man's mobile phone into the Danube River while the man was recording him.
The Hungarian leader, from whom Parliament removed immunity specifically for this case, is being investigated for a possible crime of theft, after being accused of snatching the device from the citizen before throwing it into the water.
On his social media accounts, Magyar has limited himself to stating that he participated in the interrogation related to the events of June 21, 2024, in a nightclub in Budapest, shortly after the Hungarian party Tisza came in second place, behind Fidesz of former Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, in the European Parliament elections.
"I presented a brief statement and denied the commission of any crime. I will provide more information as the matter develops," he commented. The phone was finally recovered and returned to its owner in perfect working condition.
