The president of Vox, Santiago Abascal, has demanded this Thursday the resignation of the head of the Executive and of the holder of Transportes, Pedro Sánchez and Óscar Puente, and that the railway accident in Urda (Toledo) "be investigated to the end" and "justice be done".

Abascal intervened in a rally in Ávila that began with "La muerte no es el final", the anthem in remembrance of the fallen of the Armed Forces, as a tribute to the seventy deceased in the accident, a tragedy that completely centered his speech.

Before some 500 people, the Vox leader described the accident as "unjust and avoidable" and called for "responsibilities to be clarified and justice to be done", insisting on the resignation of Sánchez and "Óscar Muerte", whom he described as a "sinister couple".

He underlined that "there are 120 dead in a year in railway accidents" and asked "why have the Minister of Transport and the president not resigned yet, that sinister couple that is behind the decision-making of many aspects of our policy that are degrading our institutions", stressing that he feels for them "infinite contempt".

Abascal recalled the slogan of "stopping fascism" used by the left for the general elections of November 29 and he ironized that "stopping a train is asking too much of these corrupt and traitors".

Criticisms of the Government over the management of the accident

At another point in his speech, he denounced "the filthy haste" with which, in his view, the Government has rushed to "point to a poor man, a worker" whom "they have left exposed", again rejecting the official version based on "human error" to explain the accident.

He claimed that "one must investigate to the end what happened, in Adamuz, in Toledo, in the flood in Valencia, in the blackout and in all the crimes that this mafia Government has committed against its people". Already on Wednesday, after the accident, Abascal had accused the Executive of seeking "a scapegoat, a fall guy" to justify what happened in Urda and called to "not believe" the Government's version.

According to the Vox leader, "it is not a human error, nor a technical one, it is a crime against the interests of Spain", attributing what happened to the "fruit of paying companion girls" and to having left former minister José Luis Ábalos and his then adviser Koldo García, today in prison for corruption, in charge of the Ministry of Transport.

Continuity of the campaign and political message

Abascal has defended the fact that his party has not suspended the pre-campaign during the three days of official mourning decreed after the accident. He has assured that "we are not here to do politics as they are saying, but to do justice, we are never going to be silent and we are not going to admit that they silence us".

He has pointed out that they are present "to express our mourning, our rage and our emotional remembrance and solidarity with the families of those Spaniards who have gone so unjustly, to announce our absolute commitment not to rest until Spaniards feel safe in their own homeland, safe to get back on a train and protected by their institutions".

To close the event, Abascal reiterated the three pillars of Vox's message ahead of the general elections on November 29: national priority, deregulation and tax cuts and "remigration" of illegal immigrants and of legal ones who commit crimes or live off social aid.
