The national deputy and deputy spokesperson of the Popular Group in Congress, Cayetana Álvarez de Toledo, has claimed in Sanlúcar de Barrameda (Cádiz) the commitment of the PP to "guarantee a strong State, capable of guaranteeing order and freedom," something that, she emphasized, requires "the protection of borders and to protect those who protect us." Likewise, she insisted on her party's involvement in the fight against drug trafficking, which, in her opinion, "is a problem that is talked about little in relation to its seriousness."

According to the PP in a note, before holding a meeting with representatives of the Security Forces and Corps, in which the local president, Carmen Pérez, also participated, Álvarez de Toledo focused on the dimension of drug trafficking on the coasts of Cádiz and throughout Andalusia, emphasizing that "it is a State problem, a challenge to our democracy, and it is also the consequence of a Government that has favored criminals."

"We are facing a government that amnesties criminals, that disprotects and abandons law enforcement" and, in this context, referred to the amnesty of Puigdemont, the reduction of penalties for embezzlement and sedition, or the facilitation for squatters. "It is a government that has surrounded itself with crime, that has whitewashed criminals and has disprotected and abandoned the Security Forces and Corps of the State," she pointed out.

As an alternative, she emphasized that the PP bets on "a strong State and there cannot be one with disauthorized or helpless police," and reiterated the "specific commitment to the Security Forces and Corps of the State that we are going to protect them with concrete measures." Among those actions, she detailed the reinforcement of material and human resources, the reform of the Penal Code to strengthen the principle of authority, and the creation of a specific unit against drug trafficking in this area.

"Drug traffickers are roaming freely on our coasts and in our country," warned the popular leader, before stressing that "it is a problem that is talked about little in relation to its seriousness and its impact," which is why the PP demands "a deep debate in the campaign and that our proposals be carried out."

Álvarez de Toledo has recalled that the PP has "a contract with Spain, which Alberto Núñez Feijóo presented three days ago" and that it seeks "to reinforce the State, defend freedom and order, defend national sovereignty and deeply regenerate the institutions, so that they can no longer be colonized by political commissioners of any party."

In addition, he has pointed out that the PP aims to "face and tackle" the serious housing crisis, guarantee the protection of pensioners, and reform the educational system to offer young people greater future opportunities. "And something very important, after these years, from the Government we are going to heal the wounds and reweave that fabric of affection among Spaniards," he concluded.
