The spokesperson of the Federal Executive Commission of the PSOE, Montse Mínguez, has called for a great state pact in the field of Education following the latest results of the PISA report, which she has described as "lamentable."
Asked about the possible responsibility of the central Executive after the release of this report —which records the worst historical data in Reading, Mathematics, and Science— she emphasized that educational competencies correspond to the autonomous communities. She pointed this out in an interview on the 'Parlamento' program of 'RNE', reported by Europa Press.
"The government or the governments, because we are in a country where many competencies are delegated and I do not want to accuse one more or one less," she indicated, stressing that she is concerned "as a mother" about the educational level shown in the report, which analyzes the performance of 15-year-old students from OECD countries.
"When the result is what it is and it is as lamentable as it has been, I believe it is the moment to make a state pact," she added, after Spanish students have fallen below the OECD average in Reading. Likewise, the results in Mathematics and Science have also worsened compared to the previous report, corresponding to the year 2022.
In any case, Mínguez is skeptical about the viability of advancing this pact with the PP of Alberto Núñez Feijóo and reproaches him for the lack of similar agreements on other sensitive issues such as housing or the crisis in Ceuta.
The socialist spokesperson blames the PP for the absence of major state agreements on the "important issues that affect Spain" and maintains that "their flag is falling" and that their priority is only to obtain electoral gain.
