The spokesperson of the Popular Party in Congress, Ester Muñoz, has again criticized the situation of Spanish soldiers stationed in Ceuta, denouncing the "riot" led by migrants who, she has pointed out, would have attacked Army personnel without them being able to act and without having "the necessary means to defend themselves."
"The Minister of Defense has sent them there, they are deployed there and can only observe and perform logistical tasks, but they cannot intervene when, for example, there is an aggression against a citizen, another soldier, or a civil guard or national police," she has denounced.
These statements were made in Bilbao, as part of her visit to Aste Nagusia, where she shared the day with members, supporters, and officials of the PP in the party's tent in the Biscayan capital.
The popular leader has announced that her parliamentary group has presented a non-legislative proposal with the aim of having a specific regulation that allows considering soldiers as agents of authority, providing them with precise instructions, and establishing a legal framework that also protects their physical integrity.
"We demand that the Government provide means, give clear orders, and give soldiers the capacity to defend themselves and to do their defense work for the people of Ceuta with all guarantees," she concluded.
