The president of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has claimed this Monday his profile as a manager and that of his team at the head of the Xunta, contrasting it with the ministers that Pedro Sánchez has placed in charge of the Ministry of Transport in recent years: José Luis Ábalos and Óscar Puente. In this context, he has stressed that the PP will not modify its strategy for the next general elections as it considers itself the "alternative," and has denounced that the Government "is more interested in the narrative than in the victims" of the Urda (Toledo) tragedy.

During an interview on Telecinco, reported by Europa Press, Feijóo lashed out against the absence of assumption of responsibilities in the Executive. "Here there has been no resignation at all," he lamented, recalling other crisis episodes that, in his view, have affected both the Transport minister and other members of the Council of Ministers.

Feijóo has warned that the country is going through a delicate situation because "there is a loss of confidence" not only in the railway network, but also in the electrical system, in the protection of the borders and in territorial integrity itself. In his view, "the Government has abandoned the principle of basic quality in the functioning of public services".

In his analysis, he has maintained that this situation "does not happen suddenly," but rather responds to years of neglect by the Executive, which, according to what he said, would not have followed the CIA recommendations or heeded the warnings from the train drivers or the complaints from the Atocha monitoring center about the workload.

PROMISES AN AUDIT OF EXPENDITURE AND A RAILWAY AUDIT

In this framework, he has insisted that what cannot be done "under any circumstances is to call into question safety" in Spain, whether in the railway, road, electrical sphere or in border control. For this reason, he has announced that, if he reaches La Moncloa, he will promote an "audit of expenditure and, at the same time, they will carry out a railway audit". "And we will present the Spaniards with a plan," he added.

Feijóo has also centered his criticisms on the profiles chosen by Pedro Sánchez to lead Fomento in these eight years, whom he has defined as the "Ministry of Security": the former minister José Luis Ábalos, "who is in prison for the 'masks case'," and the current head, Óscar Puente, whom he has reproached for being more attentive to his social media than to management. According to what he has said, the current Minister of Transport "the more statements he makes," the more "unsettling" he is.

Along these lines, he has asked himself "how it is possible that our country has appointed two ministers, Mr. Ábalos and Mr. Puente, and they have managed the infrastructure in our country during eight uninterrupted years," also underscoring the open judicial investigation that affects other officials of Adif and the Ministry of Transport itself.

"I AM NOT A PAPER MACHE CHARACTER"

Feijóo has advanced that, if he governs, he will choose for his cabinet people with proven experience in management and has defended his own career. "I am not a paper mache character. I am not coming to dance. I am coming to manage," he emphasized.

The leader of the Popular Party has insisted on the need for an Executive that takes charge of managing so that Spain "works again," something that, in his opinion, requires "experience, competence and a great deal of management".

When asked whether he expects to introduce changes in his campaign, he ruled it out by considering that the PP is the "only alternative to the PSOE and to these years of sanchismo". In his view, the country "needs a solid party, with government experience and that demonstrates rigor and traceability".

In addition, he has advanced that before the Executive Committee that the PP holds this Monday he will ask his people to be "serious, more rigorous than ever" and not to fall into "the tricks and narratives" that, according to what he has indicated, have marked these years of confrontation with the PSOE.
