The president of the PP and candidate for the Presidency of the Government, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has proposed that, ahead of the general elections on November 29, Vox renounce presenting lists for the Senate in those provinces where it has no chance of gaining representation, and that the Popular Party reciprocate that "gesture." He also pointed out that this Wednesday he had the last conversation with the leader of Vox, Santiago Abascal, precisely about this issue.
"It would be logical for Vox in those provinces where it is not going to obtain a senator to consider the possibility of not running and for the Popular Party to reciprocate that gesture," Feijóo declared in an interview on Cadena Ser, which was reported by Europa Press.
The PP leader has acknowledged that, at this point, he cannot offer any "true and definitive information" regarding the option for Vox "not to run in certain provinces and make some specific pact in one of them."
HE ADMITS THAT "THERE IS NOTHING CLOSED"
"It is not closed and therefore I cannot confirm it. I can confirm that there are conversations about this, but I also confirm that there is nothing closed," the president of the PP elaborated.
Feijóo has stated that any understanding will depend on "the will of Vox if it wants to renounce running in provinces where it has no senator." In his opinion, if that circumstance were to occur, "a pact can be reached" because the goal is "to seek some solution to make the votes profitable."
When asked if the PP is also considering withdrawing in any Senate constituency, Feijóo responded that that information "is a bit outdated," although he acknowledged that it was an alternative that was on the table in the conversations.
