King Felipe VI participates this Friday in the Defense Industry Congress (Indudef), which since Wednesday brings together in Córdoba companies, unions, administrations, professionals, knowledge centers, and students to analyze the challenges and opportunities of a sector considered strategic for Spain.
During the day, Felipe VI will visit the facilities of the international congress, which takes place at the Córdoba Exhibition, Fair and Convention Center, and will subsequently preside over the closing ceremony.
In this final session, the attendance of the president of the Junta de Andalucía, Juanma Moreno; the Minister of Defense, Margarita Robles; the general secretary of UGT, Pepe Álvarez, and the president of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE), Antonio Garamendi, among other authorities and representatives from the economic and social sphere, is expected.
Indudef brings together companies linked to defense, technology, and innovation, and offers a program with discussion panels, professional meetings, and specific areas designed to promote cooperation and networking among the various actors in the industrial ecosystem.
Under the slogan "Industry, Talent, and Defense," and promoted by the UGT FICA union --along with the Manuel Fernández 'Lito' Foundation and with the support of the Córdoba City Council--, the congress places talent at the center of its agenda. Thus, it brings the reality of the industry closer to university students, vocational training students, and high school students, with the aim of showing "the professional opportunities of a sector that demands new profiles and skills."
The program also includes an "Innovation Space" and a "Networking Meeting," designed to "connect companies, institutions, professionals, and knowledge centers and promote new collaboration opportunities."
The promoters of Indudef also emphasize "a role of representation and defense of the rights of workers within the defense industry, claiming that the transformation and growth of the sector must be accompanied by quality employment, training, professional qualification, and labor guarantees."
The official opening of the congress took place on Wednesday and was led by the Minister of Industry and Tourism, Jordi Hereu, who highlighted "the great contribution" of the defense industry to the reindustrialization process of Spain and Europe, emphasizing that "Córdoba develops magnificent examples of what defense industrial projects are."
