The PP Committee of Seville has given the green light to its proposal for candidacies to the General Courts for the elections on November 29, 2026, still pending final validation by the Federal Committee.
According to the formation in a note, the Deputy Secretary of Finance, Housing, and Infrastructure of the PP, Juan Bravo, will occupy the first position on the list for the Congress of Deputies. In turn, the mayor of Carmona, Juan Manuel Ávila Gutiérrez, will head the candidacy for the Senate.
On the ballot for Congress, Bravo will be accompanied by Sol Cruz Guzmán, Ricardo Tarno, Lourdes Fuster, and Francisco Jiménez. The list for the Senate will be made up, after Ávila, of María Teresa Astolfi and Antonio Enamorado, in that order.
Background in the general elections of 2023
In the province of Seville, the PP candidacy for the Congress of Deputies in the 2023 elections was headed by the Deputy Secretary of Economy of the Popular Party and former Councilor of Finance of the Junta de Andalucía, Juan Bravo, who will lead the list again in the upcoming elections. In that call, the ballot for the Lower House was followed by the deputy Sol Cruz-Guzmán, Ricardo Tarno, and the then councilor in the Seville City Council Rafael Belmonte.
The list for Congress was completed with María Teresa Astolfi (number five), Alejandro Suárez Pérez (six), María José López Rodríguez (seven), Alfonso Angulo (eight), Joanna Moreno (nine), Ángela Jiménez (ten), Alejandro Brito (eleven), and Montserrat Guerrero (twelve).
Bravo took on the responsibility of the economic area of the national PP in April 2022 after the XX National Congress held in Seville. Previously, the popular leader had been the head of the list for Jaén in the regional elections of June 2022, a position he resigned to focus on his duties in the state leadership of the party.
For his part, the candidacy for the Senate was led by the mayor of Carmona, Juan Ávila, who had just revalidated the municipal position after the elections of May 2023 with 15 of the 21 councilors of the plenary. Alongside Ávila, the mayor of Pilas, José Leocadio Ortega, and Susana Cayuelas, former provincial delegate of Promotion and current deputy secretary of the area in the PP of Seville, ran for the Upper House.
