The national spokesperson of the BNG, Ana Pontón, has claimed this Saturday that her party is the "guarantee" for the leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, to remain on the "bench" and has urged to set aside the "fear" and "defeatist" speeches ahead of the general elections scheduled for November 29.

During the meeting of the National Council of the BNG, the first after the electoral call, the nationalist leader assured: "We are going to fight and go for it all, without setting limits," advancing an "intense work in the streets," "talking to everyone."

Pontón has set as a goal to "gain political weight in the State" and to convey to the citizens that it is "key" for Galicia to have "more strength" and "more voice" in Madrid. In this line, she emphasized that "if we want Galicia to gain political weight and that strength to translate into a better life, there is only one alternative: give more votes to the BNG."

The leader of the BNG has reaffirmed that her formation is the "guarantee" for the PP to remain "where it is," that is, in the opposition. She pointed out that "here we know very well who Feijóo is and how his policies devastate everything," accusing the PP of favoring its "friendly companies" and the "speculators who profit from housing."

At this point, she recalled that between 2015 and 2022 the PP only delivered 15 social rental homes, and that the Galician president, Alfonso Rueda, has launched 98 of the 1,800 promised for 2026. In her opinion, "this is the PP that in Galicia has caused the greatest housing crisis in history," with up to 6,600 evictions in recent years.

"We are facing the most ultra and anti-Galician PP, which works to profit from health, from old age, from housing, and from everything we need to have a dignified life. The Galicians know that in front of this PP is the BNG," she emphasized.

Criticism of the PSOE and the role of the BNG in Madrid

Pontón has also directed her reproaches at the PSOE, of which she said that "it only does when the BNG makes it do." With this argument, she has highlighted the work of her deputy, Néstor Rego, and her senator, Carme da Silva: "They have achieved more for Galicia than all the others at the service of state forces."

In addition, she has criticized that the central government has approved "little ambitious" housing decrees and that it has not eliminated either the gag law or the labor reform of the PP.

In his final reflection, Pontón has asked not to "buy" speeches "of fear" or "defeatist" and has encouraged to "go for it all." "History will be written by the Galicians on the 29N with their vote, and I am absolutely convinced that they will do it in favor of their lives and of Galicia," he concluded.
