Nine people have lost their lives in a shooting that occurred on Friday night in the city of Erie, in the state of Pennsylvania (United States), as confirmed by local authorities.
The alleged perpetrator of the attack is among the dead after shooting himself, according to the Police, which deployed a large operation after receiving the report of gunfire in the area. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect barricaded inside a house and attempted to persuade him to surrender.
"At this moment we can confirm that the suspect is dead. According to the information we have, there is no danger to the public," pointed out the chief of the Erie Police Department, Rick Lorah.
Lorah has expressed his condolences to the neighbors in light of "one of the most difficult and heartbreaking moments that our officers and inspectors have ever faced." "The loss of a life is devastating and the circumstances are deeply concerning," he added.
