The counselor of Economy and Finance and spokesperson of the Junta of Castilla y León, Carlos Fernández Carriedo, has emphasized that the regional government is determined to protect the "territorial integrity" of the province of Burgos and of Castilla y León, as well as respect for the Statute of Autonomy, after a motion was approved in Treviño (Burgos) to request the holding of a consultation on the possible adhesion of the enclave to Álava.
In this line, the spokesperson of the regional government has announced that the Junta will resort to all the tools at its disposal, including judicial ones, to safeguard these interests.
Thus, he explained that, in case any of the proposed decisions is subject to the corresponding requirement, they will go to the courts with the aim of defending the territorial integrity of both the province and the autonomous community.
Fernández Carriedo has insisted that compliance with the law must prevail at all times. In this regard, he has recalled that there is already a legal procedure established and has reiterated that the Junta will ensure that it is respected.
