The Ministry of Rural Environment and Agricultural Policy has launched a package of aid totaling 1.1 million euros aimed at strengthening aquaculture and supporting the marketing and processing of fish products. This line of subsidies, of a multiannual nature, will apply to investments made between 2026 and 2028.

In the last call, 17 applications have been registered, which will represent a joint investment close to two million euros. Of these, six fall under the specific line for aquaculture and eleven under the one aimed at the marketing and processing of fish products.

In the aquaculture section, the six proposals submitted include actions totaling 598,947 euros. The projects foresee the purchase of new machinery and equipment for fish farms, including photovoltaic installations and oxygenation systems.

For its part, the 11 applications linked to the marketing and processing line reach an investment of 1,353,224 euros. Among the main actions are freezing tunnels, cold storage rooms, specific equipment for fish processing, improvements in traceability systems, and the expansion of two canning factories.

The minister in charge, Marcelino Marcos, along with the general director of Maritime Fishing, Enrique Plaza, visited today the companies Fresgea, in Castropol, and Productos del Mar Ría de Navia, in El Franco, two of the firms that have requested financial support for their projects in this call.

Fresgea, dedicated since 1994 to the preparation and distribution of fish and derivatives, has branches in Asturias, Cantabria, Álava, Madrid, Pontevedra, and León, and has a distribution fleet of more than a hundred vehicles. In addition, it develops other complementary activities, such as ice manufacturing.

Productos del Mar Ría de Navia, created in 2018, focuses its activity on the marketing of fish from the Asturian auctions and has a room dedicated to fish products and preparations.
