More than 8,000 Uber Eats delivery workers will see their working conditions strengthened after the agreement reached between CCOO and UGT and the delivery platform, an advance that represents a new boost to the rights of 'riders' within the process of laborization of what is the last major digital 'delivery' platform in Spain, according to a statement.

At the beginning of the year, and in compliance with the act issued by the Labor Inspection, Uber Eats recognized the status of employees for all delivery workers operating through its application. In line with this change, last week the company communicated to CCOO and UGT its decision to transfer its delivery division to the company Quinde Crew and requested to open a negotiation table to organize this process.

After all parties agreed on the convenience of consolidating a solid framework of labor relations, with fair conditions that comply with current regulations and allow for efficient operations in the sector, the unions have reported that an agreement has been reached that improves the usual working conditions in the sector for nearly 4,300 delivery workers who will be integrated as staff of Quinde Crew.

The Federation of Services, Mobility and Consumption of the General Union of Workers (FeSMC-UGT) has highlighted the relevance of the signed pact to complete the laborization of all self-employed delivery workers who still worked on the platform, a measure that will affect 4,286 people and will be applied starting next November 30.

The union has assessed this step forward as "very positive," emphasizing that the end of precariousness and the fraud of false self-employed workers in the sector is a direct result of collective bargaining and sustained pressure over time.

In addition, a monitoring committee has been created to oversee the strict compliance with all commitments made in the agreement over the next three years.

At the same time, and in order to ensure a balanced framework of relations, it has been agreed to establish a permanent dialogue committee, which also includes the Closer Logistics fleet, with a workforce of over 4,000 people and which, like Quinde Crew, works exclusively for the platform.

In this dialogue forum, which concentrates more than 70% of the operational activity of Uber Eats, the evolution of employment, wages, and the organization of the workday will be reviewed, and algorithmic management and the resolution of conflicts related to the processes of union elections will also be addressed.

As a result of this initiative, and in light of the need to standardize working conditions in the sector, it has been decided to extend these wage improvements to the Closer Logistics staff through progressive salary increases of a quarterly nature, without exceeding in any case the maximum period of one year.

The companies involved in the agreement, Uber Eats, Quinde Crew, and Closer Logistics, along with the unions CCOO and UGT, agree on the urgency of promoting the negotiation of a collective agreement that provides stable sectoral coverage for this activity.
