Gijón will be from September 22 to 25 the meeting point of breeders and researchers from ten countries at the European Congress "Brown Swiss," the continental event of the Brown breed. The program includes a technical day dedicated to genetics, selection, and cheese-making aptitude of milk, in addition to two field days in different farms in Asturias.
The event, driven by the National Association of Breeders of Select Cattle of Brown Breed (ARAPAR) and the European Brown Swiss Federation (EBSF), will bring together representatives from Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Spain, the United States, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, and Switzerland.
The congress is held under the motto "From respected breed to strategic choice" and will also serve as a prelude to the World Brown Swiss Congress 2028, which will take place in Lucerne (Switzerland) and whose official presentation is scheduled during the technical day planned in Gijón.
