The Minister of Rural Environment, María José Gómez, has highlighted the unique quality of the agri-food productions of Galicia during her participation in the XLIV Festa da Pataca de Coristanco.
According to the Galician Government in a statement, the head of Rural Environment emphasized the relevance of this event, recalling that it was one of the first gastronomic festivals created with the aim of recognizing a local production.
In this line, she stressed the importance of this tuber, which has a specific quality seal, the Protected Geographical Indication (IXP) Pataca de Galicia.
Similarly, María José Gómez highlighted that the Galician agri-food sector is distinguished by its diversity and by being closely linked to differentiated quality.
The Autonomous Community currently has 36 designations of origin and protected geographical indications, to which are added the organic production seals and Food Craftsmanship, which act as complementary elements and help generate greater added value.
In coherence with this strategy, the minister indicated that the Xunta maintains a "firm commitment" to enhance the value of Galician gastronomy, through economic supports directed directly to the regulatory councils and through programs such as the Plan Saborea Galicia Calidade Diferenciada.
