The spokesperson for Education of Compromís in Les Corts, Gerard Fullana, has labeled the decision of the General Attorney of the Generalitat to file a cassation appeal before the Supreme Court (TS) against the rulings issued in July by the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community (TSJCV), which endorsed the delegations to the municipalities of the works of the Edificant Plan for school infrastructures approved by the Botànic Consell when it was in office, as "institutional savagery".
In a statement, Fullana condemned that the Generalitat has chosen to go to the Supreme Court to "try to paralyze, for at least two more years, these works, which have already been paralyzed for three and a half years." "In politics, anything goes and, in the end, here the victims are the thousands of students who continue studying in a deplorable situation," he stated.
From the coalition, they have reminded that the TSJCV "ruled in favor of the affected municipalities and it was confirmed that the maneuver carried out at the time by the government of Carlos Mazón to revoke the 15 Edificant works was illegal".
"All these centers have a situation of maximum need, as the TSJ has said, and these works should have been finished already, in fact, by now," Fullana insisted, who accused the Ministry of Education of "throwing the stone to block the works for two more years in an absolutely irresponsible manner, since that is the time it usually takes the TS to respond to this type of appeals," with the aim, he said, of "saving this money".
The party has criticized that the PP-led executive under Mazón "completed a procedure to withdraw 15 works worth 63.5 million euros in the municipalities of Petrer, Burjassot, Casinos, Quartell, Villena, Albalat dels Sorells, Senyera, Sagunt, Mislata, Borriol, Betxí, and Benicarló".
An "unprecedented process of harm"
Likewise, they have criticized that the "Valencian government of the PP sent a letter announcing an unprecedented process of harm": "It warned the municipalities that, if they did not voluntarily renounce the work, the Ministry of Education would sue the Ministry of Education itself to annul the works, which it considered harmful to the regional administration and not of public interest.
They have emphasized, however, that "in all cases the process of joining Edificant had begun years ago and they had reports that certified the urgent need to carry out the actions."
"Now we do know that this Conselleria is neither willing to build more schools nor is it thinking about education. It is a Conselleria and a government entrenched and absolutely irresponsible, that is absolutely insulting the educational community, because this act can only be defined as an absolute attempt at humiliation," Fullana has concluded.
