The Prosecutor's Office has requested a sentence of 23 years and six months in prison for a man to whom it attributes two crimes of sexual assault against a minor of 16 years, allegedly committed in the summer of 2024 in A Coruña, according to the document from the Public Ministry.
The private prosecution raises the request for a sentence to 24 years in prison, while the defense requests the acquittal of the accused, arguing that "he was unaware of the victim's age."
The trial has been scheduled for this Tuesday in the first section of the Provincial Court of A Coruña and it has been determined that it will be held behind closed doors in order to protect the right to privacy of the complainant.
In statements to Europa Press, the lawyer for the accused has reiterated that his client "was unaware of the victim's age" and that the young woman "has changed her version many times since the events occurred."
In addition to the prison sentences, the Public Prosecutor's Office claims compensation of 30,835.47 euros for moral damages.
Likewise, it requests, among other measures, that the accused be prohibited from approaching within 700 meters of the woman and from establishing contact with her by any means for a period of 30 years.
